Power failure

In case of power failure:

  • Flashlight, radio, candles, fondue burner and lighter
  • If you have a wood stove, stock up on fuel
  • Install a carbon monoxide detector

During the breakdown:

  • Listen to the news
  • Lower the thermostat to a minimum
  • Turn off electrical appliances, except for one lamp per room
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer closed as much as possible
  • Unless otherwise stated, let flow a stream of water to prevent freezing
  • Never use inside heaters designed for outdoor use or stoves designed for camping
  • Be very careful with a generator

If the failure continues:

  • Leave your home if it's too cold
  • Close the water inlet and drain pipe
  • Put antifreeze in the toilet and sink drains
  • Turn off the main entrance of electricity

When power is restored:

  • Make sure the heater is filled before turning on the power
  • Open the water inlet and valves to allow air to escape
  • Ask a professional for gas
